| I feel your pain, and sorry for the loss. Something like this happened to us back in 1990 or 91. In a pasture that we rented there was an old barn floor that had dropped when a storm took it 30-40 years before. Almost all of it was cleaned up but for one solid piece next to a big tree that didn't bother anything for 30 years. Well long story short, after awhile yearling hfrs discovered an old broken battery under the rotting wood and we lost 6 out of 32 head. Lead poisening is the most violent death one can imagine and I don't wish it on any animal on this earth. Well maybe rats & mice. The landlords liability insurance covered the hfrs.
