Subject: RE: Battery acid and cows bad thing happened

NC Iowa
year ago, my dad said to be sure to fence cattle away from newly painted building because lead in the paint would harm them. this was from back when there was lead in the paint. he never said where he got the experience. hope it wasn't his.

one time had some soybeans spill in the yard. dad scooped the up what clean ones he could. had a few pails that had gravel mixed in with them. he took them out to the far end of the field and dumped them in the fence row. well the calves got out and followed the fence to the dumped beans, and ate them. got them back in and called the vet. he said they were going to die when the beans swelled up. he was right, next day all were dead.
lots of heartache with livestock when you loose them because of a lapse.
