Just went over some stats out of Brazil, and shows continued decline in herd numbers,

Those numbers would come back slower than the US , sence they use eared cattle that cann't be bred till they are 2 . Sorry no animal sience degree here just read the pictures . If the US would pull good productive acres out of CRP and get the government out of the land buying /taking .Cow numbers could comeback . With the threat of government leases being turned into wilderness or national monuments , folks around here that have the ability to grow won't . It doesn't take long to go from 750 head to a thousand , but if you get your summers pastures jerked out from under you it's damn hard to find profitable grass near by.

Second issue is retireing ranchers and who can afford to take over . Here you need 250 cows to make a go of it , at todays prices you easy have a quarter million just in your cows . You'll easy burn another 100 grand in machinery . A good ranch here that will run 350 cows ,good irragated hay ,good corrals and buildings and houses ,leased for 75,000 . If a young person didn't own their cows ,they'd be easy 400 grand in debt to get in . Pretty tough deal .
