Chilliwack, British Columbia | About bedding in the alley, will you have a wall with gates for heifers to go on/off the pack from the alley, or will it be wide open? If wide open, you will be surprised how much bedding they drag into the alley.
My uncle has a fenceline with gate openings in his pack heifer/dry cow barn. He scrapes with a bucket on his skidsteer, and has an outdoor dry stack. Not sure how well it works, but he seems happy with it. He does bed with straw.
