Subject: RE: Making the best use of the feed

NC Indiana
Thought maybe the needed the extra energy right now w/ the weather and snow cover on the stalks as I hadn't seen much grain in their manure lately. My 12 new cows were just weaned the begining of Nov and I have 3 cows from my first bunch that milked anything that tried that I've yet to see above a condition score of 3 (by my amature eye anyway). I understood corn/ddg's to be a cheaper, better mix w/ the corn price like it is. I do plan to cut them back to grain every other day or every 3rd day if/ when we get some open stalks to graze. I was honestly more worried about which hay/baleage to feed the cows and how much. Ext agent (cow-calf/grazer) freaks out when ever I mention feeding baleage to bred cows.
