WY, OK | I should mention ours are pastured, put in a corral and barn at night and after they calve they go to a meadow. Figuring just pasture rent here is $20 or less for a single cow per month $30-$31/ month for a preg. one isn't bad, of course hay is added to that though. I think we were paid closer to $1.50/day last year but can't remember the exact number. We always guaranteed 92% then paid under that on some other cows we calved. We usually hit 96% on our own so figured doubling the loss wouldn't hurt us, and it never did. I think the contract was $250-$300 per calf for ever dead one after that 92%. | |
