1200 lbs cows do not consistantly produce growthy calves. That kind of mature weights flys in the face of yearling weight gain. Breed cattle like that for a while and you'll find they loose vigour. Especially hiefers...they won't yield enough on the rail. I agree with the post that 1300 or I'll say 1400 is ideal.
