Subject: Re: Packers an stockyards act

Leesburg, Ohio
We don't have 10,000 head, far from it. We keep 50-70 angus mamas, and finish all our own calves. Some we sell as freezer beef. The proposed GIPSA rule probably won't affect those sales. But the bulk of our fats sell through Producers stockyards to Whole Foods in their all-natural program. The new rule would essentially eliminate that program that now gives us a decent premium for a high quality product. How is that beneficial to me as a small grower? How is making all fats bring the same price by eliminating these "special" contracts good for the industry? Won't that mean that there will no longer be any incentive to produce a higher-than-average quality product? Sounds like socialism to me.

If R-Calf and Bill Bullard is for it, I'm definately agin it.
