Chilliwack, British Columbia | Thanks Martin, your explaination makes more sense. I get the system, just have a hard time explaining it in words.
Rick, we don't see any buyers, as we sell our milk to the milk board, and they in turn sell it to the processor. At least here in BC, but I beleive Man. is the same concept. This way it keeps it all "fair". There are tarriffs in place to keep cheap milk out, but we have laxed on those a litte bit, mostly I think because of WTO ruling. Mostly in the form of MPC (milk protein concentrates). There is also some way that niche milk can makes its way here. I saw some American Organic milk stuff at Costco a while back. I was not too impressed. Also, if part of a finished product, i.e. cheese on pizza, that is also allowed in.
That is how I can explain it, anyways. Maybe Martin or some other can chime in and say where maybe I'm not saying it right?
