Southeastern Kansas | We have been told it would be ten cents a bushel plus the difference in price but have nothing in writing as they refused. In 07, when our wheat crop froze in May we had 20 bu/acre sold. My wheat made 7 so we had to buy out the remaining along with the price spike because of the freeze. Crop ins helped but the problem was it took all the crop ins money to pay the contracts. What am I going to live on for the forseeable future? Just as well not had insurance and then I would not have had so much sold before hand and I wouldn't have such a sour taste about contracting grain ahead of harvest. It can certainly go against you in a hurry as you now well know. | |
