Galahad, Alberta | As usual, great perspective SC. It is hard to get out of the "backyard viewpoint" and try to get a handle on the rest of the world. Canada is short on planted acres, the FSU is having a heat wave/drought, and the rest of the world is average. Add to that, growing Asian demand, increasing world population, and mandated ethanol production. Methinks the carryout is going to be pretty small. One thing I have learned is that genetics are not to be underestimated. The varieties of a lot of crops seem to be able to handle adverse conditions better than 15 years ago. I learned that the hard way, watching the media kill the US crops more times in a summer than they kill Kenny on Southpark, only to have a average+ crop in the bin, year after year. Hard for us canucks to deal with.
