Both of your comments above me are on track. The water is getting depleted but land is relatively cheap. Our night time teperatures basically always at least get into the 60's. Obviously it must be a here versus there thing but I guess I'm thinking that if you have adequate moisture, why do the temps even matter? I would think corn would grow in wet dirt irregardless. I thought it was in it's optimum range at 80 to 90 degrees with adequate moisture.
