Don't know if it helps with heat stress or not. I notice the cows, calves and even the bull will lay on corn stalks after they knock the round bale apart. Maybe it insulates them from the hot ground or maybe it insulates the ground so it doesn't absorb as much heat as the bare ground does. Or maybe its just more comfortable to lay on...
