the fact that you said you had one last year the same way makes me wonder if you have a clostridia (black leg) problem......you can vaccinate for this.....it works just like it does in wet feed....clostridia likes anaerobic enviorements....cow scrapes leg on stall with clostridia on it....gets bacteria in scrape......scrape heals up.....oxygen no longer present......boom.....takes off like wild fire....basically digests the meat in the leg from the inside out....only thing i've heard of people doing is heavy antibiotic and they actually slice open the cows leg all over.....shallow cuts the length of her leg every couple inches.....will introduce oxygen and kill the bacteria....
