Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North

I feel your pain, lost 2 mid lactation cows the past week to ecoli mastitis, both were confirmed pregnant and better cows in the herd.  Lost another yesterday - she was fresh about a month, had a very hard calving, mostly recovered but vet and I guess a bad metritis infection got going and killed her.

I would assume your cow is done, multiple issues is bad, sad but if you mess around with her and she survives you probably are looking at a best case of a couple hundred dollar cull value in a few months. I still try myself to keep downers going, I know its probably a losing proposition but you never know.

If you have livestock, you will get deadstock. I've also got caught trying to get 'one more' lactation out of some old grinder, sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.  Still really sucks to lose one.

The joys of dairy farming.  I'd rather have busted equipment than sick cows any day.
