Iowa | Can you split up your heifers from your older cows. If grass gets short the older cows will get their share of eating and if you give the whole heard extra the cows will push the heifers away from feed. Our heifers got out and in with our cows last winter, we figrued they would get enough to eat they had 160 acres of stocks to run, grain and hay but the heifers went backwords fast, had to get them out. I think big older cows will find a way to get food, its the skinny ones that struggle when food is short. | |
