Owen-you're right...dirt/lint can be a problem to fans. I'm not saying they're OVERheating, I'm saying they're warm. The HD gets heat from other components in the tower. Externals need to dissipate only their self-generated heat....when they're running at all.

Again-not arguing. You have valid experiences.
