Subject: Overheating computer

Mississippi
Just curious about the overheating computer...

Have you blown it out good? Dust can cake up and add to the heat. These things get pretty filthy inside.

We tend to run into heat problems with notebooks that spend time in the field but even have had issues with one that stays indoors. They required a good workover with canned air. A couple of them shut off as a safety feature if they can't be cooled down sufficiently.

We also had a desktop with a continuously running backup fan, which didn't seem right, and the Dell tech had us blow out some stuff. I didn't do it, so not sure what parts got the attention.

Just a thought.
