Subject: RE:Reason they're better for grass fed is

New Mexico
smaller frame size. ( Keep in mind you can run 3 head of 900 lb cows cheaper than 2 head of 1,350 to 1,500 lb cows, and 3 head of calves are generally always worth more than 2 calves also )

Big frame cattle generally just won't fat on grass in a 12 to 18 month life span ( especially in the humid "soft grass" areas of the usa ).

If You know cattle...especially cows, just get out there and buy some of the smaller frame cows ( say 950 to 1,000 lb cows ) that do not fit their bigger frame peer sisters.

Heck you'll buy those on the cheap because most everyone in the Midwest wants BIG black supposedly beautifull cows. Popular spin there is once they go black, thet never go back.

Don't worry about cow color...just breed em to a smaller to mid frame thick black bull and most the calves will be black anyway.

My belief is the Best combination of things is to simply feed 5 lbs of ddgs on grass in the grass based finish programs. That supps your grass enough to run twice as many cattle on those acres and the cattle gain about 1 lb per head per day more also. Some of the best tasting beef on the globe comes out of the afore program too.
