sw ontario
--seems what was a "good size" just a few years ago now won't support a farm if you want to have some decent equipment and a nice standard of living.....seems a "good" 5 yr. old combine is still 150k,,,in 1990 Gross equip't ,Saline,mi. ....would sell us a new 9400 with 920 flex, loaded for 89k (still have quote in file),,we ended up buying a 9400 with 100 sep. hrs. and 6 months old for $72,500...next combine cost $44k difference,,now we farm at least twice as many acres as then and just get sick at looking for another combine.......thinking you survive the 70's,80's,ect. and it is still a "struggle"...we have a good lifestyle but not sure if its fair too even put kids through this though one does farm fulltime.........and Mike, walmart came too our little town and the old downtown section has pretty much gone out of business....we may not need many dealers as a dozen or so big guys could farm the county (and we are not in centrall ill. either)
