I have no doubt that if not for US intervention in WW2 we'd be a Japanese speaking country now, and I am grateful for that. My father spent 3 1/2 years as a POW in the slave labour Japanese prison camps in what is now Indonesia, so it has some personal meaning to me, although it was long before my arrival on this planet. |
