The feed motors are running faster because the frequency going to them is not right. If you do not have an accurate reading of the pto speed on the tractor you are probably running the input shaft faster than 540 rpm with that adapter on it. If your tractor does not have a PTO tachometer I would not use the adapter because of that reason. The RPM of an AC motor is controlled by the frequency of the current not the voltage and if you are able to visually see a difference then i am guessing you are running the generator too fast. This will also affect the time clocks that control the motors and make them feed more often than you have them set. If you have a tachometer on the PTO like SMASH says on his tractor then make sure it says 540 when you are running but your engine RPM should be 54% of what it would be if you wanted to turn the shaft 1000 RPM.
