Subject: Is it worth all the work??

nw/nc iowa on the banks of West Buttrick Creek..
Went on a short drive yesterday in the -20 Iowa weather and noticed all the steaming livestock facilities on my trip. With the lack of profit, cold weather and all the dnr hoops to jump, it makes ya wonder if it is all worth it. I have never had any livestock but as a kid helped with hogs, never cattle and at my age I am ready for c-soy-texas rotation. I guess these hog units are a way for a young man to get into farming if his grandpas were not aggressive land buyers. I suppose the lack of any control of our selling price is my biggest disapointment in my farming career and I was never willing to shell out a million dollars to be someones hired hand in a hog or cattle op.
