SW Ohio | I will throw out a few more ideas. Been using a 7000 for 43 years now and no-tilled some the first year, now do 95% no-till and have broken the 300 barrier more than once. You only have a small plot to do, take your time, get off and check the seed often as you change things---like depth, speed, ground pressure (you will need some), coverage, spacing, etc..... Split the old rows if you can. Try some with the coulters but plan on throwing them in the scrap pile. If you need more weight (stop with the planter in the ground and go back and try to turn the depth wheels, it should be difficult or impossible) there are many ways to add it, either to the row unit or the frame with unit springs added. With a small plot you can wait till weather and soil conditions are good but don't let it turn into concrete hard before you start.
Let us know later how it turned out and what you learned. | |
