NW ILLINOIS
I'm guessing you had a foot valve on the bottom of the
suctions hose. Correct?
Takes lots of water to fill that hose so it will take lots
of time.
I put a valve on my priming hole so I can keep adding some
water while I wait for the water to get up to the pump.
Another trick I use is;
unhook the suction line
with the foot valve in place and in 3 - 5 feet of water
move the suction hose up and down
it will fill the hose and water will come out the open
end if you can still move it up and down.
At any event you will have the suction line partially
filled thus taking less time to prime.
