The warm winter allowed the frost to come out early so any precipitation is more likely to soak in. The last snow event melted rather quickly and only have minimal ponding. Most years it seems we need a couple warm rains to remove all the frost so there's more runoff. I sure liked the dry spring last year, it made planting a breeze.
