Subject: RE: I would call it a flow monitor not a flow meter

The system itself is for flow monitoring only. It differentiates from the flow indicators in that each individual row has a flowmeter. The flowmeter uses a few replaceable 'jets' that can be swapped similar to the balls in the flow indicators, improving accuracy as a flowmeter for each individual row. Overall the accuracy is solid for sure. Probably beyond what you'd need for individual row flowmeter.

All in all, works well. Just needs power on the equipment/planter/drill and it'll send WIFI to an android tablet in the cab.

For GPS speed, didn't make sense to tie in to a separate speed sensor with the unit, and it was intended as a simple bolt-on system, so it's just a input speed monitor.

If the planting speed is variable, the 'flow line' is based on a floating 12 second average, so it isn't like if you are running 6mph instead of 5.5mph that it will just be alarming you highly. It will just show a higher application rate than is actually going on. (As it is just the still accurate flow rate x inaccurate speed). The actual flow rate (us gpm) would still be just as accurate.

It doesn't tie into a rate controller though, so it doesn't have any mean to actually change the flow rate itself. Just to make that bit clear. It's kind of one of those weird 'flowmeter vs. flow meter' situations. The system is a flow monitoring system, but not sure if there is anything else to call the actual flowmeter than what it is.

Anyways, let me know if you have any questions on the system itself. All in all, pretty solid. We've been making/selling it for 7-8 years now. If you have a few WIFI systems on the planter, best to check what WIFI channels the existing systems are running on and order an ECU without that serial number on it (otherwise the two systems will be fighting a bit).
