East Central Arkansas | The electric company has had a crew around here doing maintenance to their poles recently. Part of the procedure I had seen done before that have rural co-open service but the firest time I remember Energy doing this. They dig around the poles, clean the pole up, smear a preservative on the pole, wrap a piece of some type paper around the pole before backfilling. They run several screws of some sort in the pole about ground level. They are also driving like a 8 foot ground rod and connecting to the pole ground. I watched them to this part on one pole but didn't know they were also putting braces on some poles. Would have liked to have seen that. I have no idea how long they are or what type tool the used for driving. I know the crew I watched had a smaller engine driven driver they used for the ground rods but don't know if it would drive those braces or not. Also some larger and I guess longer screws run in the pole. My only guess was to expand the pole. I have a tractor she'd that could use some of those braces.
