Checking fields.. with recent warmth our HRW Wheat has broken dormancy and started to joint. I found the growing point about 1.5" above the soil surface yesterday evening with similar reports from the area.
Again there are many factors involved.. We've been warm.. warming the soil.. will it radiate enough heat?.. Could there be a blanket of snow? If it does rain will that help?
Or do winds drive the cold snap into the canopy.
As noted.. its not spring without concerns of a cold snap affecting the crop.
