What stages the wheat at? If the average low has just now gotten above freezing on average out there for the end of Mar, how "late" is a hard freeze on Mar 25th?

The April 2007 wheat damaging cold snap starting on April 4 and continuing for a week came after a very very warm Mar with most WW areas experience highs over half the time in Mar in the 70's and a handful of 80 degree days. Wheat was heading as far north as IL. This year Feb was record warm but March is backing off that significantly and is looking to be in the middle 1/3 of average temps for Mar in KS when all said and done. As such is there even wheat in the joint stage in that area?

Edit: Jointing not boot stage.

Are we jointing?  Yes.

Is this late for a freeze? Depends.. not really.

Freezes are tricky.. 1995.. ah wasn't that bad.. nailed it.. a pivot didn't even fill a semi.. 1996.. (or was it 94.. 95 ??)  Anywho MUCH WORSE.. plants falling over.. then it rained.. and did like 50 bu.. "The miracle crop."
So you really can't outguess it.. "it depends" on what comes next..

First off.. do they revise up the 17 degrees to 25 with cloud cover.. do we get moisture?  Or snow?  Is it cosmetic. Or splits steams?  Can we regrow from tillers?   Will it be wet going forward or.. "not so much."

Cold and Dry.. that's a bad combination.. maybe it'll rain.

Too soon to know.. but.. ain't selling wheat today.

Edited to clean up fat finger errors.. as usual.  Hacking away on phone.
