I have a 55 gal barrel with the top cut out in the barn that I fill up with posts and then keep filled to the brim with used diesel oil. Let the butts of the posts soak at least a week per batch and usually a month, oil will draw up another 6-8" above the oil line into the posts. I process a batch or two every year with good success.
