Was watching utility crew doing maintainence around poles a few days ago. After digging around pole and shaving outer layer of pole off they had a blue paste they smeared on the pole. I am thinking it might have been a copper sulfate product. Would have liked to have known more about what all they were doing but new they didn't need me bothering them.
