The best homemade was using waste oil mixed with copper based boat bottom paint.It is basically banned now as it released metals into the ocean.So it was the copper that killed the fungi/plants/barnacles .I used a mix of this decades ago on sill situation,its a ground contact and its fine still.Thats where copper sulfate would come in..I have not tried but I suspect that mixed with an oil based carrier would be slick.
