| My favorite job is combining good standing and good yielding corn. My LEAST favorite job is combining down corn. Most of our field are 1/2 mile long rows. Some are 3/4 of a mile and there are some much shorter. My wife runs our auger wagon and my son does the trucking for the corn. It's a pleasure working with them and as a bonus we get to have grandsons ride with us quite a bit. Spending time with them as they are growing up is so precious.
My next favorite job is running field cultivator in the spring. A couple of years ago we bought a JD twin track 9430T. Going from getting pounded to pieces from the rough ride in a wheeled 4x4 to a much smoother ride in a twin track (I know a quad track ride would be better yet, but our check book wouldn't have survived THAT ride) makes it so much more enjoyable. Going almost 7mph with a 50" digger is FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! | |
