Some 3" pumps are rated at 375 gal a minute. At that rate it would take 12 hours to dump that much.

Maybe someone left pump on and valve on tank on, but had valve on end of hose off. After running like this for a little while I could see the valve on the end of the hose getting pushed off the end of the hose.
