If they come from a good bull, breeding a bull calf to his half sisters can and has worked well for me. This is using a Schu-Lar registered bull as the sire of the bull calf and his sisters.

With a good bull you can do this, you just don't want any one bull to be more than 50% of the genetics in any calf. Breeding a bull calf to his half sisters the resulting calf will be exactly 50% of the resulting good bull's genes with each mama cow at 25%. 

It helps to keep good pedigrees. My Cattlemax program does that.
