Subject: RE: what age to sell angus bulls

I've raised everything from yearlings to two year olds. By far the best all around are 18 months olds. Best fertility tests because you can grow them without ruining them. Two year olds are great but a pain in the a$$ and occasionally have had to test several times because of all the old dead semen stored up. Plus some guys think you get one less year out of them because they will get too big that much faster. Plus they are just a pain in the a$$.

What I really like about 18 month olds (fall born bulls) is that they spent a winter on the cow, learn how to make a living in the winter. A lot of yearlings have never had a bad day in their lives, one of the many reasons people say they fall apart too easily.
