Subject: RE: Heart Ablation

East central Iowa
Had the same problem for 10 years. Had catheter ablation at Mayo in 2000. Had 11 sites neutralized in 10 1/2 hours. All was well till I got afib in '08. I'm controlling that with drugs. I'm 75 and recently maxed a treadmill stress test. Very thankful for the work the doctors and staff have done. Only concern with the ablation was that one of the bad sites was right next to the node that causes the heart to beat. If they got the wrong site, it would be an instant heart and lung transplant..... I had that issue so the Doctor went out to talk with my wife about leaving it. He had explained this possibility before starting the procedure and I said get it then, so the wife said go ahead. All was good! The sites were eliminated using radiation to burn them but since I have heard that they use liquid nitrogen to freeze them. I've heard that some people have to have the procedure done more than once. Hope all goes well and yes, he will feel better after.
