Have you ever had the pleasure of scraping severely root lodged corn (no longer attached to the ground) off of the ground at speeds under 2 mph?

I have.    The extra cost of the GMO seed is nothing compared to the risk of losing your sanity.

The difference in seed cost on a 1/4 is what $12,000?     You can put that much wear on a combine and corn head picking up down corn just from running dirt through the machine.      Pick up a rock and you can do $50,000+ of damage in a few seconds.

IMO, in the scenario you describe, the risk isn't worth the savings.
