Subject: Putting out hay on a foggy afternoon

Driftless SW Wisconsin

This afternoon I put out a couple bales of hay for a group of cows and heifers . I stop to take the netwrap off then back up before putting the bale in the feeder, leaving a bit on the ground for them to clean up. Some of them were right on this bale as I took the netwrap off. I thought they looked good for having just the woods for shelter and hay for feed through the last couple weeks of below zero (F) nights.

In the picture, the first 4 on the right are open heifers, some of last May's calves. I am really looking forward to seeing their first calves from my retained bull in May of 2025. The cow on the left is my current favorite cow, bred to calve about May 1.
