Wisconsin | Correct, the handle closes the drains when it opens the water, so it won't drain open.
The pumps should be insulated better than the freeze miser, then it's just a matter if the freeze miser will run enough water to keep the pump above freezing. With sheet foam insulation and cans of expanding foam, it's easy to seal and insulate the inside of a pump house so it will stay above freezing all winter with enough water use. | |
