this also is not entirely true. there are third parties out there that are feeding gps and tricking the OEM equipment into thinking it is receiving from a OEM receiver when it is in deed not. it is a slippery slope trying to draw lines between devices and what will work and not. i try to refrain from saying something is not possible as it usually is if a different route is taken. seems to be ways around everything if needed.

examples are when leica was able to supply gps to john deere, deere took them down pretty fast but it was possible. a current example would be agra-gps as i understand it they have a device that is much cheaper than deere to feed rtk to a deere system without a deere branded gps. that means they have the absolute ability to take any gps and feed the deere system but they decided why let that happen when they can provide the gps receiver too. there are options out there so i woudn't say its not possible just not traditionally possible.
