Central Kansas | Your marsanne wine is a product of the northern Rhône valley in France. This grape produces a white wine which may be still or produced as a sparkling wine. Somewhat similar to Viognier types of wine, dry (not sweet) with citrus over tones. Whites like these do not benefit much from cellaring, it is drinkable now and likely a good wine.
Red wines benefit more from aging time, Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa types), Nebbiolo wines, Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah and a few types that can smooth out and lose strong tannins with aging. Red blends, not so much. Enjoy your marsanne chilled a bit (1 hr in frig), it will be a dandy I’m thinking. | |
