Subject: RE: Sustainability and Your Operation

Missouri

The buzz word's definition often depends on the source. Who is the source and what is the definition?

The most sustainable thing for me and my operation would be tearing up all the grass, letting some dirt wash off the hills while mining the fertility for three years, and then putting it into crp at inflated prices and going fishing during the summer and hunting during the winter. Logging all the timber like I was a mennonite and putting that money into I bonds would be the bonus for finally managing a farm like every other stock holder based business would.

A pasture I looked at a few weeks ago just sold for $9,000 an acre. I don't care what definition they use, I'd like to see anyone sustainability their way out of dropping close to 5 mill on grass before even buying the cows.
