Blow them out with a compressor. I like to put a valve on the end and close it 3/4 to let it build some pressure, especially when using a smaller compressor, otherwise it just kind of glugs away and lets the air by.

Not really. A mid size compressor can empty a mile of 1.5" line in about an hour. Even a 7.5 CFM compressor can put out something like 50 gallons per minute, and a mile of 1.5" pipe holds about 500 gallons of water. Of course, you lose a lot of that air, especially when you're not building pressure, so it clearly takes longer than 10 minutes, but you get the point. I have about 5 miles of 1.5" pipe that I can get blown out in less than a day.
