Subject: HP printer

North of London
Have had Canon printers for years but for reasons I don't remember now we bought an HP last time printer needed replaced.

We have never been real happy with it since it seems awkward to use in several ways compare to what we remember from old printers.

Now we have another problem.
One ink cartridge ran out.
Last time we needed ink we bought 2 sets for pricing reasons and put one set in printer about a year or so ago.

So got the message one was out of ink again
took me a while to find the info on which one and replaced it
Then the printer gives me a message that it has detected an non HP chip and will not print.

Looked at cartridges again and they are identical as the ones I took out as I put all the new ones in

Still nothing from printer except a message that a non HP chip has been detected.
My IT expert will not be here to look into it for a couple days but I am left wondering why the cartridges that were in the printer worked but not the identical ones that are full of ink?

Any suggestions?

We are thinking a new printer might be the best to stop HP from dictating what ink we use

If so what printers are most favoured now?
