Wheat does the best when it starts out dry and then rains so often that it make it difficult to do any field work. Here rain from middle of March to middle of May are the most important. This year there was no rain all of March and almost all of April. Here we have dry the first 25 days of April for the past 5 years. No good wheat years during that time. Wheat looks like it will make 10 to 25 this year. Our best wheat crop was in 2013, it was dry in late summer of 2012, then it was wet enough in April that we were still planting corn in May. |
