With the overhang, I would take some soffit down and plywood the side of the truss down to the soffit. You could just cut plywood pieces and screw them to the top double plate and cover the opening to the roof sheathing, but then you don't get any ventilation from the soffit. I wouldn't do that.
Also, you need to be able to see into the soffit area and find out where the coon was getting into the attic. It would have had to pull out insulation and vent chutes to get up into the attic, and you need to get that repaired. | |
