Subject: RE: Stories about Bad Equipment Breaks

Walnut Grove MN USA
Back in the 90’s Dad had some of the big Parker 550 bushel wagons. Of course it had a 2x8 around the top. I was taking a load to the elevator and while starting down a hill I looked back and saw the right front wheel start wobbling. Looked back forward again and thought “that’s not right!” Turned around again and it is really wobbling now. Hit the brakes and just as it come to a stop it went bang! The wheels studs had sheared off and the bang was the hub falling down onto the rim. Last load of the day so it was the next day before it got fixed. The neighbor had a wagon like that snap an axle while crossing a railroad track. That was bad but could have been real bad if a train was close by.
