We just spread ahead of the corn for two reasons.
1. Save time so we are just spreading half the acres every year
2 we always put down DAP and Urea ( where it calls for no DAP ) ahead of the corn
We do put down enough fertilizer for a average beam crop the next year
I see the spread half the acres point, but your only buying fertilzer every other year, and in the wrong year, it can be realy expensive bean fertilzer, just to save $8 an acre on spreading. The up coming year is a prime example of why I like to spend the fertilzer money in the same crop year. High fertilzer prices spring of 23, and possibly low crop prices after that could make 24 beans a real loser. |
